A social media site for the over fifties "Silver Surfer" community. Running since 2009, it has posting discussion boards, photo-sharing galleries and is lots of fun. The forum is built using SMF from www.simplemachines.org an open source Forum Software. I've helped with Technical Support there and built a few modifications for use with the software.

I was employed there between October 2000 to March 2015. I originally designed the site using Mambo, a forerunner of Joomla then rebuilt it using Joomla 2.5. In 2014, I upgraded this site to Joomla 3.xx. It still looks good so they must have decided to keep it.

This site was built with Joomla 3.xx. I created the site on my demo server so the client could choose the template and build on that. We transferred the domain to my server early in 2015. I'm pleased to say the client is happy with Joomla and we've worked hard together to get it looking just the way they wanted it.

With this site I used my knowledge of the SMF forum system to upgrade the forum from an old version to the latest (at the time). It took several iterations of upgrades through different versions and ont manual database reconfiguration but we got there in the end.
I love SMF and have been a support tech on their site www.smf.org for many years. I've even written a few modifications for use with this software.

Problem solving was the name of the game with this site. The site manager was experiencing problems with the rather antiquated database this site uses and asked for my assistance. Thankfully we managed to fix things and got the area of the site working again that was giving problems.

Currently under construction, Kev is an author and this site will give access to Kev's work. We've done quite a lot and Kev has written a new book which is now available to download.

Equate Group Ltd are providers of Communication services and equipment. Phone, Internet, SIP and more. As my most recent full time employer, I managed the website bringing it up to date with Joomla v3.xx.

Having recently taken early retirement, I decided to join the big world out side of the office. I joined the U3A (University of the Third Age) to both meet folk and learn new things. Well what do you know. As soon as I mentioned that I work with websites, they asked me to give their site the once over. So I rebuilt it from the ground up using Joomla of course and had it up and running on my server within a few days.
